Full moon in leo: january 2019
There’s extra magick in tonight’s Full Moon in Leo! It’s a Super Moon, meaning the moon is especially close to the Earth, making it look extra large and it’s power extra palpable. It’s also a total lunar eclipse, and the Earth’s shadow passing over the surface of the moon will give the moon a reddish hue, making it a Blood Moon. And as the first full moon of the new year, it’s known as a Wolf Moon. The full moon is always a wonderful time for gaining clarity and letting go of the events of the past, but as a Super Moon, now is an especially potent time for ritual involving clarity and letting go. The blood-colored shadow over the moon directs us inward, hinting that what most needs to be released right now comes from deep within our hearts, concealed in the darker parts of ourselves that we prefer to keep hidden. Leo suggests that this aspect of our shadow self that needs to come to the light might stem from childhood traumas. Quite often, we spend time nurturing our inner child, mending the wounds of the past, but Wolf and Lion are here to offer a different perspective to healing the child within. Cuddles and laughter are important for sending love to your inner child, but now is time for a braver approach. Does your inner child need some defending? Maybe there’s something that needs to be stood up for, whether it be yourself or someone else or beliefs from back then that still hold true to this day. In what ways can you demonstrate the bravery of Lion and Wolf in your life today that can also release some of your past traumas? If you’re not feeling all that brave, try standing in a powerful stance, grounding down through your feet and breathing fully into your lungs. For an extra powerful surge, try taking your powerful stance in the bright red light of the full moon, and while you’re at it, let out a HOWL!
